The white sand beach is available for your pleasure at your convenience. The beach attendants and life guards are on duty between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Furnished with cushioned lounge chairs and umbrellas, the resort's private 75-m (76-yd) beach is lapped by the calm waters of little Round Hill Bay. Cushioned lounge chairs also are available on a 75-m (76-yd) stone-and-concrete walkway shaded by tropical almond trees that extends from one end of the beach. A trampoline raft and two wood rafts are anchored off the beach, and there's snorkeling among rocks near the beach and a reef farther offshore. The resort provides complimentary snorkeling gear, kayaks, pedal boats, windsurfers, and Hobie Cat sailboats as well as glass-bottom-boat tours. Water skiing and fishing are available for surcharges, as are scuba-diving instruction/certification, diving excursions, and a 15.5-m (51-ft) catamaran with crew for sailing/snorkeling excursions. Cornwall Beach draws large crowds because of its central location near major hotels and restaurants. But don't let the crowds keep you away—this is an excellent destination for spending your day dining in the sun, playing on the beach, or swimming in the cool blue sea. White sands make the beach somewhat scenic, but don't expect too much in the way of privacy or panoramic views. Instead, enjoy some windsurfing or volleyball with friends. You can't find a better beach destination in Montego Bay than Doctor's Cave Beach, and since everyone knows it, you may as well join the daily celebration on the sand. And there is plenty to celebrate. The beach is five miles long and is bordered by the city's best hotels and restaurants. Named after a local doctor who donated the land and a now-closed coastal cave, Doctor's Cave Beach helped establish Montego Bay as a resort town. The dressing rooms make it easy to go from your street clothes to a bathing suit, and the azure waters will definitely draw you in. It's best to go early to pick up a spot and rent a chair and umbrella, but don't expect to sit the whole day—the festivities will ensnare in sooner or later. Protected from meddling winds, Walter Fletcher Beach provides the best swimming and snorkeling in Montego Bay. Centrally located near the city's main attractions, the beach does get somewhat crowded. The extraordinarily calm waters and on-duty lifeguards make Walter Fletcher very popular for families with younger children, and there are a convenient restaurant and changing rooms on the beach.
