"The White Witch of Rose Hall" and "Jamaican White" Annie Palmer murdered in 1831, still evokes memories of her monstrous reign as mistress of Rose Hall. Legend has it that she was cursed by slaves as a white witch, she turned this once-magnificent plantation into a hell-house of atrocities. All three of her husbands met their deaths at her hands, and countless slaves fell prey to her tortures. The eighteenth century Georgian style Great House, built in 1755 and renovated to its original style, is impressively situated on a rolling hillside, offering a panoramic view of the magnificent property, the Martha Brae River, and the surrounding countryside. The Great House and its gardens are an ideal place for special occasions and requests for seminars, anniversaries or retreats are welcome. Horseback riding is a definite highlight at Good Hope, with a stable of over twenty horses, the two thousand acre property will be an adventure. Narrow cobbled-stoned streets, baroque and neo-classical styles, churches and palatial mansions, Hemingway's Trail, cabarets and the would famous Tropicana Nightclub with its glittering supershows is a must. The modern Havana emerges majestically. Visit its avenue la "Rumpa" and "Malecona", traditional celebrations like Varadero Carnival and hot July carnivals as well as many other local fiestas.
